News incoming in the world of darts, teenage darts sensation Sean Kearns from Castledawson playing out of the Tumbledown Bar and Area 2 County Team has been sponsored by one of the biggest names in darts – Winmau.
Simon Hall from Winmau has sponsored Sean Kearns for the next year with a full accessory sponsorship with a possible long term deal at the end of the contract.
Geoff Wylie (NIDO Chairman) was introduced to Sean by his father and took him on to try and get the best possible out of Sean. It is obvious from watching Sean play he has bags of potential and it’s with that potential that Winmau have invested their time in supporting Sean. Also on board for Sean as a sponsor is David Heasley of Indigo Car and Van Hire locally here in Northern Ireland. David being a main NIDO sponsor asked to see if there was a young player he could sponsor and Sean fit the bill.
With a lot of competition play, and some majors across the water in the UK at WDF ranked events, a potential spot in the WDF Masters could be on the cards for Sean. No-one know how far anyone can get in the world of darts but we all know that Sean has the raw potential not seen very often. Practice and dedication is all that Sean needs to get to the next level, but with Winmau and Indigo on board he has all the support he needs.
Congratulations Sean on your sponsorships and all the best for the incoming year and years ahead.

Come along and support – even if you don’t want to play you can come along and support and watch some top notch darting action. Players likely to be playing, Neil Duff, Kyle McKinstry, Davy Glenn, Geoff Wylie, Gary Elliott, Chris Gilliland, Philip Carson, Marty Mooreland, Grace Crane, Denise Cassidy, Helen Dunn, Sean Kearns, Travis Baur and Johnny Stewart etc etc.
The Charlie Gaile and Charlie Wright Pairs kicked off yesterday at The Drummond Hotel in Ballykelly and they had some great players in attendance, including Tony Martin, Jim Williams and PDC Tour Card holder and Euro Tour Winner Jamie Hughes, among others including some great local talent.
Area 2 player and NIDO youth player Sean Kearns (pictured with NIDO chairman Geoff Wylie) lifted the Youth competition at the Charlie Gaile yesterday playing awesome darts again.
He was followed by his Area 2 team mates Neil Duff and Chris Gilliland who won the Charlie Wright Pairs in the afternoon.
Unfortunately for Neil Duff after beating Jim Williams on route to the final in the Singles, he came unstuck against Tipton’s Jamie Hughes, going down 5-4. Unlucky Neil, onto the next one.
Beaten semi finalists were Donegal’s Dean Gallagher beat by Hughes and Chris Gilliland beat by Duff.
A great day out for all involved and again shows the class darts of Northern Ireland at the moment.
