Gary Anderson wins PDC Players Championship 1 today

Gary Anderson claimed victory in the first Players Championship of the year. The Flying Scotsman defeated Canada’s Jeff Smith 8-4 in the final.

Anderson, who threw four 100+ averages in his seven games today, led 2-1 and eventually 3-2, before he claimed three legs in a row to streak ahead 6-2 up. The Silencer Jeff Smith was able to nab two legs back to go 6-4 down but Anderson wrapped the victory 8-4 with a deserved win.

The Flying Scotsman beat Adrian Lewis, Joe Cullen, Rob Cross and Gerwyn Price on his way to the final to claim his 49th PDC ranking title.

Great runs by Brendan Dolan and Mickey Mansell today. Mansell hit the first 9 dart leg in the Players Championship today in the first round and kicked on to reach the last 16, going down to the evergreen Steve Beaton. Brendan Dolan beat MVG 6-4 in the last 32 and went on to the semi finals going out to finalist Jeff Smith.
